TiPP work with a wide range of young people aged between 10 and 18 years of age in the community as well as in secure settings. This sees us working on a wide range of projects, from prevention schemes to longer term projects with young people identified as being higher risk. Over the past few years we have developed a particular expertise in the planning and delivery of Summer Arts Colleges. TiPP believe that all young people have the right to access creative arts work, to enjoy these experiences and discover alternative ways of operating in the world around them.

!ntense Board Game
!ntense is a board game designed and made by young people from Salford Youth Offending Team with TiPP and visual artist Caroline Daley.
It demonstrates in a fun, interactive way the route a young person takes as they engage with their Intensive Supervision & Surveillance Programme.
Each player is given the character of a young person and the journey they make on the visually stimulating board game is dependent on different aspects of the character e.g. age, gender, offending history.
The players experience reparation, health care, victim awareness and anger management, with the risk of going to custody for breaching the order!

West Manchester and Wrexham Summer Arts Colleges
From 2006 to 2009 TiPP worked with West Manchester ISSP team and Wrexham YOT on the development and delivery of their hugely successful Summer Arts College programme. Over these four years we worked with over forty young people, assisting 35 of them to achieve Bronze Level Arts Awards. Summer Arts Colleges are a cornerstone of the Youth Justice Board and Arts Council England's strategic partnership. They provide a structured, 25 hours per week of arts-based activity over the summer holiday, using the Arts Enrichment resources. They are for young people on an Intensive Supervision and Surveillance Programme (ISSP) and/or a Detention and Training Order (DTO).
Each College has its own distinctive themes and art form approaches - in 2006 the young people worked to develop their live performing arts skills; in 2007 the participants composed, performed and recorded their own music and music video tracks; in 2008 we used digital photography and design to explore the themes of "Who Am I and Where Am I Going....".

Blackburn PAYP Action Research Project
This was a project carried out over two weeks with young people on PAYP in Blackburn. The project used the Drama Enrichment pack (produced by TiPP in conjunction with Ecotec and The Youth Justice Board) to develop dramatic skills, explore issues about life, increase personal confidence and culminated in a short performance and film of the event.

Shine
In response to requests from a local ISSP team, TiPP developed an arts based programme specifically for young women. Shine is a holistic female only programme looking at issues around self esteem and positive body image.
Shine uses a wide range of art forms including drama, poetry, dance and visual art and provides a protected space for young women and staff to come together and explore topics relevant to them. The project can can build to a performance or presentation if that is appropriate for the group, or conclude with a more private celebration event.
Young women take part in arts activities, creating work to keep and display. They also learn skills such as hand massage, and participate in healthy living tasks such as buying and preparing food.
Shine is easily adaptable for work in secure settings.

Barton Moss Local Authority Secure Unit
This was an individually designed three day project in partnership with Salford Young people’s drug service. TiPP used drama to explore young people’s understanding of drugs and the consequences (both positive and negative) that they can have on young people’s lives and on those around them. This course looked at issues such as victim empathy, consequences and choices, culminating in a short performance for staff at Barton Moss.
